I purchased Jada from a pet store in Halifax, Nova Scotia, She was a discount puppy as her litter was a little bit older and not one of those "designer breeds" that were the fad at the time. I didn't know any better at the time I got her, she was my first dog that I purchased on my own (I grew up with a small mixed breed and Gordon Setters that my father hunted with.) For the first two and a half years she would run off at every opportunity (life was a giant adventure) and pee on the shoes of everyone she met; I swore I'd never have another retriever... but eventually she turned into the most loving, friendly, and obedient dog you could ever meet; it's like she could read your mind and do what you asked before you asked it. She knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it.
She passed away in the summer of 2016 at the age of 11 due to a hemangiosarcoma. We were evacuated from our home for a few months due to a forest fire and had just got her back a few days prior (she was staying with a lovely gentleman who I can't thank enough.) I miss her terribly and feel like those last final months with her were stolen from me but I get solace in knowing her final months were spent being spoiled and loved.
