Puppy Fear Stages
Puppy fear periods are natural phases in a young dog's development. Their brains are rapidly changing, and they're figuring out what's safe and what might be cause for concern. It's a healthy process, even if it makes your puppy suddenly scared of things they previously loved. That being said, dogs who experience stress or trauma at this age can experience larger, related behavioral problems or consequences later in life, so it’s important to be sensitive to training needs during this time. Never push your puppy through a situation they are uncomfortable during a fear stage. It is better to work within their limits and keep things positive, once the fear stage is over they will often go back to not caring about the object in question provided they were not flooded with negative emotions during their fear stage.
