Meraki is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love - when you put “something of yourself” into what you're doing, whatever it may be... I don't believe I could have found a better word to describe my passion towards this wonderful breed.
My husband and I first became involved with Great Danes in 2013 when we purchased our first blue, Maddie. It didn't take long for us to fall in love with the breed and within the year we added a second. From there, we became involved in showing in conformation which lead to us becoming members of both the Canadian Kennel Club and the Great Dane Club of Canada. The love we have for this beautiful breed has expanded exponentially over the years and our knowledge of the breed's standard, structure, health, and temperament has vastly grown as we are continually learning more all the time. While I am a Registered Veterinary Technician, I currently stay home to raise our 2 daughters. Our Danes are, first and foremost, beloved pets and members of our family. They share our home with us and our girls, and they are an intricate part of our daily lives.. we incorporate them into our activities as much as possible. In the summers, I'm sure folks get a kick of seeing us tent camping with multiple Danes (and now also a springer). They are show dogs second and enjoy competing in a variety of sports including Rally-O, Obedience, Barn Hunt, and Agility. Prior to 2020, we were active in the pet therapy program up here. We recently started up with visits again as I enjoy giving back to the community and love that others can share in some of the joy that my dogs can give.
